This is an original mixed media painting. "Gaia's Orgasm" was created to show the dichotomy between mother nature, the flora/fauna, and the human side. I also wanted to explore texture and the eyeball seemed like a perfect opportunity. The moss adds almost a divine quality to the piece, making the painting look as if it is a snapshot of a goddess - a symbol of both beauty and power.
This painting is 20"x20" on stretched canvas, ready-to-hang, fully varnished, and signed. The painting is mixed media with a majority completed in oil paint, but the moss is attached with glue in layers.
