This is an original oil painting. This painting was inspired by the performance artist and corsetier Michaela Stark (@michaelastark). I wanted to show a surrealist take on one of her photographs using body contortion. I find her work powerful because it embraces women's bodies for what they are and explores the horror and grotesque of the human body. The dichotomy of beauty and the grotesque is what made me want to try and paint in this method.
This painting is 20"x20" on stretched canvas, ready-to-hang, fully varnished, and signed.
